Sliding Gates
Sliding gates are an excellent choice for homes and businesses that need a secure and convenient entryway, particularly where space is limited at the entrance or an immediate turn is required after entry. Moving horizontally along fences or walls, they are ideal for locations where swing gates are not practical.
These gates offer strong security and can accommodate much wider openings - the largest we’ve installed spans an impressive 13 meters (Pictured below). Available in a range of styles and materials, sliding gates can be tailored to enhance both the protection and appearance of your property.
Tracked Sliding Gates
Tracked sliding gates are the most familiar type. They run along a track that lies flat across the driveway. To install one of these gates, your driveway plus approximately 500mm of extra space is required for the gate to open fully. For example, a 4000mm wide driveway would need a total space of 4500mm to open into. The area must remain flat and clear.
The bottom of the gate has wheels that roll along the track, allowing even large gates to slide smoothly, whether operated manually or with automation. This type of gate is best suited to level ground, where the track won’t be obstructed by debris.
Cantilever Sliding Gates
Cantilever sliding gates don’t use a ground track; instead, they float above the ground. They require slightly more space to operate; a gate designed for a 4000mm wide opening would typically need around 5500mm of clear opening space behind it.
These gates have a bulkier base, making them less suited to residential properties but ideal for commercial sites.
The accompanying image shows a large cantilever gate designed for a 13-metre-wide, 3-metre-tall opening - perfect for large entry points.
Telescopic Sliding Gates
Telescopic sliding gates are a clever space-saving solution, requiring significantly less room to open. A gate for a 4000mm wide entry may need only 2500mm of clear space. Like tracked sliding gates, they require a flat surface for the track to run along.
These gates are made up of multiple panels that slide over one another on a single track, neatly compacting as they open. This design is ideal for properties that cannot accommodate the full sweep of a standard sliding gate but still require the same level of security and style.
